I have a pair of 6×80 EE Gun Factory USN / Signal Corps U.S. Army binoculars, which was their use in WWII?
These particular binoculars have been designed to gather plenty of light available. They were used for Night Vision periscope at sea wakes submarines had very good in them as a white wake on the sea, very dark. Also surface ships on a dark night sky in particular Lighter a moon lit night, but even a starry night. Or if the ship was not completely blackened, an overview of the faint glow on the horizon dark would stand strong in these binocs. They are low power so that the user would have a very wide field of vision. It was more important to be able to see many that have a magnification especially when you wake up looking periscope. Another use of these was to identify SPASH Marine shells in gun battles of the navy during the night. It is important to see where the shells fell in relation to the target so that the objective could be corrected. A wide field of vision is very important in this case too.
