The Rising Star award is a reward for player who plays a good style of footy in just their first year – and when they are inexperienced, it is presented to show good signs for future increases. The Brownlow medal is very different, while winners stars are very good, they lack the experience that Brownlow Medallists not giving Brownlow Medal the advantage of being able to win. Basically, what point is important, you can not win a Brownlow at such a young age when you're up against guys like Ablett, Dal Santo, etc. that have about 6 or so years under their belt and more exerience as a player, an advantage for them.
