Osprey Men
Although freedom of expression is a right afforded to us by the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, I always try to see as a privilege. A privilege afforded to us by the fighting men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States. Take a moment to thank all those who stand in the front lines and we allow such liberties.
We received a gift and sometimes forget the price that is paid for this gift. Once we forget, we begin to wonder why our soldiers are fighting abroad. For my part, I found myself wondering why our men and women were sent Iraq and Afghanistan. Is it for personal interests rather than the good of our country?
I recently scanned through an article, in a political magazine that shall remain nameless, who interviewed a soldier who recently returned from overseas combat. The article was focused on how which the soldier had turned his anger towards his government and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The soldier was now giving his full attention to a combative approach our government.
While I understand the frustration of this soldier, I want to remind my fellow Americans that there are thousands of other soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. These soldiers deserve our respect and support. They are there because they believe in the overall image of the representative America. We can do our part by focusing our attention on strengthening the America for which these men and women are fighting for.
Instead of expressing our anger at the government, for which we voted for, we will focus our attention on identifying future leaders that will make our men and women of the proud military tradition. Make time to research the past of politicians we elect this fall. Give time to educate those around us the importance of their votes. Take responsibility for our actions instead of sitting and blaming others. Let's make men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States proud of us as we are of them.
Over the next two years we will see many of these young men and women returning to their homes. For my part, welcome home with open arms. Proud of what they have done for the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and the United States. Proud to go to safe way for the benefit of others. And yes, proud to be his fellow American to these young men and women.
God Bless America!
