How long before the right begging Petraeus to run for president?
After all, they have now thrown their former star Fred Thompson in the "no conservative enough" mix with Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney. (How crazy-fascist to be sure if these guys are not conservative enough?) is the new khaki Petraeus great hope of succeeding their beloved Bush?
They have already done and too. The right wing is rooting for Petraeus to make the leap. On 6 September, The New York Sun wrote an editorial entitled "Petraeus for the president? "Corner Kathryn Jean Lopez approvingly linked to the editorial of this morning, titles her post" Dream Sequence ". In the spring Last, The Weekly Standard, Bill Kristol told the Harvard Republican Club that he and others "[Conservative insider s]" believe ", a ticket of Fred Thompson and David Petraeus might be able to avoid an electoral disaster for the Republican Party "in 2008. He is unlikely Petraeus would also be welcomed warmly by the American public. In anticipation of congressional testimony this week, 53 percent of the public believed Petraeus would "try to make the situation in Iraq is better than it really is." According to a Rasmussen poll of major political figures, Petraeus has an approval rate Only 24 percent – a number lower than even Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.
