Legacies

The term "legacy" has been used a little in the last few years. In fact, in terms Presidential legacies, its use is almost unknown before the presidency of William Jefferson Clinton. I do not remember someone talking about the legacy Jimmy Carter, while he was in office. He left a legacy, but they did not speak until he is out of office.

The word "legacy", according to Dictionary.com means many things possible. Here is the list that was given: View Web Results for inheritance

I simply wanted to examine the legacy of our past presidents.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy will be remembered for many things, besides the fact that he was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, in November 1963. He will be remembered for his face down Nikita Khrushcev during the Cuban missile crisis in October 1962. We must also remember the Bay of Pigs Invasion, and his willingness to admit to the American public that he had an error when all the generals wanted to keep it quiet.

Lyndon Baines Johnson will remain as the president that the escalation of the war in Viet Nam has created a state well-being increased in its "war against poverty" and free speech stifled personally in the church with its laws to limit free political speech of churches by questioning their tax exempt status if they engaged in the political process of pulpit. His intention was to silence the churches that had supported his opponent, Dudley Dougherty, during the 1954 primary elections. Before 1954, churches did not file with the IRS because they are exempt from tax under the Constitution of the United States. His "Great Society" agenda the day has increased the number of people on welfare and caused untold damage to the black family like many black men abdicated their role as father and dominant male figure because they have seen the government expects the role of women and black children.

Richard Milhouse Nixon is probably best known as the only president to resign after the Watergate scandal. Curiously, Nixon had nothing to do with the actual break in the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate Hotel on June 17, 1972. However, Nixon and staff orchestrated a cover-up that led to his downfall. It has also led to the arrest of several key Staffers, such as E. Howard Hunt and Gordon J. Liddy. If this scandal had not occurred, Nixon probably would have been remembered as the president who opened negotiations with China, negotiated detente with the USSR and got us out of the quagmire that was the Vietnam war. Although he is the face of war Viet Nam, that the inheritance should probably be placed on the shoulders of Johnson, as the escalation of the struggle.

Jacques Earl Carter is probably best known for being president during the Iranian hostage crisis between November 1979 and January 1981. Probably because he did not support the Shah of Iran, who was an ally of the United States and a stabilizing influence in the Middle East for period. He was responsible for the rescue attempt failed. He was president during the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union and the American failure to follow Olympic Games in 1980 He also negotiated the Agreement Peace Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, and returned the Panama Canal to Panama.

Ronal Reagan Wilson Although already known as an actor, became better known in his later years as governor of California who became president in During the end of the Iranian hostage crisis that the American hostages home. He also chaired the beginning American economic boom in the 1980s, its economic policy known as "the supply-side economics", or "Reaganomincs. It is also called the President once again regarded by the Soviet Union and helped put an end to that empire. He presided over the invasion of Grenada and the bombing of Libya after Lockerbie bomber in Scotland, Pan Am flight 103 and the Iran-Contra.

George Herbert Walker Bush Vice-President Ronald Reagan, will probably best known as chairman during the invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 Saddam Hussein, which led to Operation Desert Shield / Storm. He saw the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989. It is famous for his "read my lips, no new taxes" campaign slogan, when he came on and it cost him the election in 1992.

William Jefferson Clinton will probably always be associated with the intern Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones. Travelgate, the investigation Whitewater and the White House, FBI files are just some of the scandals surrounding the president. Two People Under President Similarly, it is also the second president to be impeached, other than Andrew Johnson, although he was acquitted by the Senate of the United States. He is married to the current Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.

George W. Bush is only the second president who is the son of a former president. He will be remembered for his role in protecting the United States after September 11, 2001. He chaired the hunt for al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and the war in Iraq. He also saw the capture and disposal Saddam Hussein from power and the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast states.

Barak Hussein Obama is the first African American to serve as President of the United States. It has only been in office for just over seven months, if its legacy has not even begun to formulate.

All this talk of legacy that brings me to another politician well-known just died. I refer Senator Edward Kennedy Moore, the brother of John and Robert. It was called the "Lion of the Senate." People said that his legacy will be the reform of health care. I think his legacy was written 40 years ago on a bridge in Chappaquiddick in Edgartown, Massachusetts, on behalf of a young secretary named Mary Jo Kopechne.

It's like the old joke complain about the type bar and the bartender comes over and asks, "What is the problem?" The guy is going on with all his accomplishments, "I built at least twenty houses, but they call me "Bob, the builder of houses." Noooo. I ran into a dozen marathons, but they call me "Bob, the marathon? Noooo. I sold at least 40 cars, buy they call me Bob, the car salesman? Noooo. I have given thousands dollars to charitable hospital. But they call me "Bob, the philanthropist? Noooo. But you get caught screwing a goat …"

Unfortunately for Senator Kennedy, all of his good deeds on this side of Chappaquiddick probably will not erase legacy. It is simply not that rich.
