How do I prepare for the Air Force Academy?
I am a ninth grader at a HS in South Dakota and I always wanted enter the Air Force and become a pilot. I have a 4.0 and in advanced classes and work hard in school. At our school, I'm the star of our football team and basketball and I want to play for Air Force One. Would I be able to play sports there and studying to become a pilot? I know it's hard to get into USAFA so how could I be able to prepare to receive suggestions and accepted into the Air Force Academy?
You can certainly play those at the Academy. If you are the star when I see the same if your coach can come in contact with coaches from the Academy and be hired on. USAFA is an NCAA Division I school to conference mountain west. In my opinion, it would be very honored to play on either team, especially a team high visibility such as football or basketball. In most schools you a fan base that could well be in their alma mater, but one of the academies service you have a fan base that is all your service, regardless of whether or not they went to USAFA. You get to know that if you win, there will be fliers in Afghanistan of a soldier bragging about how the Air Force beat Army again and it could be something that takes mind off the day of crap they have during a deployment. I think that's pretty impressive. With all that said, you still have pass through all the hoops to get regular at the Academy, but the sports team can help you and perhaps give you a nomination if you have not had one from a member of Congress and others. You do not really training to become a pilot at USAFA. There is a program where you can fly gliders soaring, but if you become a glider IP (instructor pilot) you only get maybe 10 flights. Your academic performance, sports and military while USAFA determine whether you are a pilot housing after graduation or not. Do everything you can to get more of the GPA, SAT / ACT, leadership experience as you can in both environments sport and not sport, the practice of the CFA happened a few times to help your score (you've never hay a basketball not a kneeling position before, but its an event on the test), the butter until your 11th and 12th year teachers get good recommendations, and apply to Congress for your applications. While being recruited for a sports team might be able to help you if your scores in a section or two are weak, do not let it get that far. If you can get your own score and the team is recruiting you, so you have a very good chance.
