Cap Insignia
What do you do with old military vehicles?
Hello, my late father was a Marine for 8 years during and after the Second World War. He served the entire war in the Pacific and it was as much a Packrat as circumstances permitted. I have his canteen and another chest. They contain a lot of things, pictures of women from Tahiti (HA-bet they were useful to a solo sailor!), some Japanese cigarettes, a bayonet, his canteen (Dented by a bullet that almost got him), tooth powder, etc. All he had in his locker. Plus I have the jackets, caps, badges, etc. of its class A and blue uniform. He had medals, but I think we have lost children. I want to know what people do with their Military Equipment Member family. Being a sailor and a veterinarian was who he was too much for me to get rid of its business, even if they may be useful. I do not think I want to sell, but the construction of a shrine to my father seems a bit odd. Right now it's all in storage, which seems a loss. In particular, the uniforms. Suggestions??
Contact your local VFW or the Marine Corps League as they could use the items to decorate and perhaps there is a sailor who can use the ceremonial uniforms. There is also a national museum of TM and several smaller ones. Another kind of museum could even College can enjoy the articles. The local recruiting office or VA may also be able to help. You might even get a deduction tax. This may take some time but they can be given in his memory. You can replace the medals using military records and put them in a flag box (example below) and put personal items in a box with a photo. It will take less space and is not too much like a shrine. Thank you for your compliance with the Corps. Semper Fi
