Infantry Division of the 81st army of the United States bore the insignia shoulder sleeves first
The first U.S. military shoulder Sleeve Insignia was worn by members of the 81st Infantry Division. This is an important aspect of insignia collectors point of view. This unit trained at Camp Jackson, South Carolina. Since the camp was located on Jackson Creek Wildcat wildcat was chosen to represent insignia of the divisions in May 1918.
