Army Issue
That the U.S. Army to date of issue as a lever rifles standard rifle?
If yes, what period of time and what models?
The Spencer carbine (1) was adopted by the Union Army in 1863. Although President Lincoln needed personally take over the head of department of the order (which was issued in the issue of loading rifles and standardization the calibers). After the civil war, the Spencer was decommissioned and replaced by a coup, Springfield Trapdoor. The Henry rifle, a contemporary of Spencer, has never been officially adopted by the U.S. Army. However, it was purchased by a number of units militia and individuals who have served in the U.S. Army. The Winchester 1895 was adopted in limited numbers by the U.S. military before and during the Spanish American War. But I remember it was mainly with units of the militia who wanted a weapon that can manage the cycle .30/40 Government, but were not receiving linee Krag and would otherwise have struggled with trapdoor Springfields shooting black powder.
