Democrats will not win the House, Republicans will lose
Tomorrow is election day in the United States. Each member of the House of Representatives is up for reappointment, and third of the Senate of the United States. It is difficult living in the greatest democracy in 12,000 years of civilization, and not after a certain time to grow used to the freedoms that our ancestors gave their lives for.
The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence may not have been created by a particular generation in the 18th century, the time historically known as the "age of reason man. These men, and they were, knew more about the history of ancient Rome and Greece as we are. They have studied and read Plato and Aristotle. They met in groups and talked and educated one another.
I dare say that today in a country of 300,000,000 Americans, we have unable to replicate the brilliance of individuals, and their youth who met long ago and formed our government. It is truly one of the miracles of history, and this experience has evolved and lasted over 200 years. It survived the civil war, a fire that consumed more lives than all the other wars combination of the United States has been since. We survived the Great Depression, thanks to the leadership of Franklin Roosevelt. Viet Nam and Watergate has torn the social fabric of this country apart, and we survived.
Now, tomorrow November 7, 2006, is our first opportunity to judge lists election of Republicans on the handling of the war in Iraq, and indirectly terrorism. President Bush is not up for election, which means that People should vote on his policy indirectly. This vote will be communicated by the House of Representatives. I think people will not vote for Democrats tomorrow. I think they cons will vote Republican.
The momentum or perhaps anger against the president's policy is so strong that the House of Representatives begins hands, and with it the power will slow the momentum of the President, and perhaps reverse some of its policies. Of course, we have the benefit Looking back at how our country has been guided in recent years, but we will revisit some of what happened, and decide the merits of the action of the President.
IRAQ
We now know that the basis for war was unfounded. Assumptions underlying that Saddam was manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, and perhaps would have used to create great calamity for the other was false. Nevertheless, we must now face the consequences of the invasion. Iraq can not go well for us at this point. Regardless of what happens From that day, he will not be an end favorable to our participation, as Viet Nam did not end well. When you open the Pandora's box, you do not know what will come out. Politically Pandora's box is the equivalent of the law "of unintended consequences." We pay a price for opening Box, America's treasury, and energy, and most importantly, our soldiers their lives and limbs.
We did not arm our soldiers addition, many pay their bulletproof vests, and steel are not cannibalizing other vehicles to strengthen steel vehicles they drive. What happens in a country as rich as ours. The war of wages, but the President has asked no sacrifice of the American people. Instead, it expands the national debt to finance the war, and puts pressure on our unborn children to pay. At the same time it has created tax cuts for the rich, which I approve, but not in a time of deficit. You do not borrow money from Japan, China and the Europeans, and then give to the rich through tax cuts, once again leaving the burden for young people in this country. This is just plain unacceptable.
The eavesdropping and the Bill of Rights
The President has chosen to circumvent the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in which the National Security Agency (NSA) to create a large funnel where the conversations of ordinary citizens in the United States have been taken in the name of the fight against terrorism. Thirty employees year of the NSA felt in horror at the idea. Every bone in their bodies told them it was wrong. All the President's to do was to appoint federal judges to approve the NSA and follow the program. There are judges who sit in offices like the FBI's full time for more than a decade that has systematically approve the federal wiretap orders.
The President has placed above the law in this case. He knew he was safe with a Republican majority in both houses of Congress that would protect so Richard Nixon was not protected. Nixon would never have been driven from office if he had posssessed a Republican majority.
What about Congress itself?
I was a student of Congress since Lyndon Johnson was president 1963. For several decades, I have worked actively to create a Republican majority in both branches of Congress. My background includes be a Republican Barry Goldwater. I saw the dirty, back room, money changing aspects of politics all my life, and He has been on both sides of the aisle. What I see now that it is unique is corruption in your face. Using waste in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
The waste is now billions of dollars, even tens of billions of dollars. There was a time when as they say the mere appearance of impropriety is enough to power an elected office. Now the appearance means nothing say. You have senators and representatives on both sides to fly in private jets. Consequently, they have debts to the owners these aircraft must be paid with the favorable vote on bills. These bills are costing American taxpayers billions of extra, and dollars unnecessary.
An example is the drug bill for seniors where the law expressly provides that the federal government may enter into negotiations with pharmaceutical companies to demand, and Force lower prices. Wow, you talk about giving away $ 25 to $ 50 billion additional year. Frankly, I do not think the Republican members of Congress have had enough of these pharmaceutical companies. Pharmaceutical companies have given Republicans $ 12 million in contributions, and return of tens of billions in the laws that were adopted. If you are going to be corrupt, you have to pay more than this.
I think that Tuesday, Election Day, there will be a dynamic tide will sweep the Republican majority in the House, and closer to the Senate. By this act, the American people will Congress and the President on notice that these types of actions will not be maintained. We return to gridlock, but for this writer, gridlock is a pleasure compared to our experiences in recent years.
Goodbye and Good Luck
